Legal, Compliance & Internal Audit

These departments ensure that Brand New Day has a controlled and sound business operation.

What does that mean? That we know and comply with all relevant laws and regulations, and that we do our work as a company carefully: we know the risks, take measures and keep our clients’ data safe.

As anyone who follows the news knows, integrity is a hot topic. Open a newspaper and you’re bound to find something about money laundering, data theft or poor information provision. Brand New Day does everything it can to not be associated with any of this.

What do these departments do?

Our legal experts monitor changes in laws and regulations and advise other departments on the implementation of new or amended laws and regulations, as well as on their impact. They also ensure that contracts with other parties are legally sealed.

The Compliance Officers (second line) investigate during the year whether we are complying properly with our own policies and relevant laws and regulations, and ensure that everyone in the company is aware of what constitutes integrity.

Privacy is an important issue within compliance. Conducting controlled and honest business naturally involves protecting and properly handling our clients’ data. The Privacy Compliance Officer is the designated person for this task.

The Internal Audit department (third line) independently reviews operations to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. They independently assess the effectiveness of our internal controls, risk management, and governance processes. Through regular audits, they ensure that all departments comply with established regulations, policies and procedures. They identify areas for improvement and helps mitigate risks.

In addition to their oversight role, they act as a strategic sparring partner for the organization. By sharing insights, best practices and risk-based recommendations, they help departments strengthen their processes and anticipate future challenges. This way, Internal Audit supports Brand New Day not only in ‘doing things right’, but also in ‘doing the right things’.

What do the teams look like?

The Legal & Compliance department has grown fast alongside Brand New Day itself, and includes both very experienced (seniors) and less experienced employees (juniors and mediors). There are opportunities for advancement, too. For example, the current Head of Compliance started as a Compliance Officer and the Chief Risk Officer, who is ultimately responsible for the department, was once (the only) Risk Manager.

Internal Audit is a small, friendly department who work closely together. They strive to have a social and approachable atmosphere and enjoy participating in company events and team outings. They believe this helps foster a collaborative and supportive environment at Brand New Day.

In these departments, you will find professionals who love hard work and informed discussions. Personal relationships are just as important: company drinks and the occasional team outing contribute to a relaxed and informal atmosphere. We like to join in, from pub quiz to pétanque and from paintball to bowling.
